Congratulations to Senator Scott Brown! He defeated the Democrat 52% to 47% by campaigning as the 41st vote against the health care takeover.
Obama blames George W. Bush for the loss of Ted Kennedy's former seat.
Barney Frank urges the Senate to change the rules requiring 60 votes for cloture. He hasn't mentioned this desire to change the rules before. I wonder what might have changed this week to inspire this change in opinion. Change.
So will Obama learn anything from this loss and pull back on his hard left agenda? I doubt it. Maybe after bigger losses this November. That depends on what actually happens between now and then. Newt Gingrich says Obama has demonstrated no ability or desire to shift to the center after a political setback. I tend to agree.
